Overview

Dê-qëthî Bî was founded durring the early 15th century in fall of the year 1404, by Fimien Fyesmë. The establishment of Dê-qëthî Bî was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Fimien Fyesmë electing to pay people to resettle in Dê-qëthî Bî.

Dê-qëthî Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Dê-qëthî Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Dê-qëthî Bî is buildings are speckled and packed arround broad baked earthen streets with seemingly no patern to them. It appears as if the town's residents simply built streets as they pleased and squeazed buildings in wherever and howeave rpossible, creating an organic, frustrating to navigate, maze of a town. The town has a defencive wall made from large clay bricks. The wall is constructed to the exact specifications of millitary fortifications, but the nature of its clay brick construction leaves it vulnerable to even outdated siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. Dê-qëthî Bî's brittle defences are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

A look around Dê-qëthî Bî makes it abundantly clear the town suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had. Everyone quietly goes about their daily business not looking anyone in the eye.

Civic Infrastructure

Dê-qëthî Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Dê-qëthî Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Dê-qëthî Bî's parks.

Dê-qëthî Bî possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Dê-qëthî Bî's grid is powered by a god's will and kindness.

Dê-qëthî Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Dê-qëthî Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

Dê-qëthî Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Two or more groups of citizens within Dê-qëthî Bî hate each other. Their neighbors or the local law have kept things from too-overt violence, but members of the groups will constantly interfere with their rivals and cause whatever misery they can get away with. This hate may spring from recent events, or it may be an inherited spite from old wrongs.

Dê-qëthî Bî's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields. Interiors will often have a grand stairway and opulent ballroom..

Due to the actions of local Kami, autumn is long in Dê-qëthî Bî.

The Gravebound near Dê-qëthî Bî are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Dê-qëthî Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves consuming a local narcotic to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 1 via moments of science.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Dê-qëthî Bî was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Dê-qëthî Bî lost 171 people, 191 livestock, and 49 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 225, when members of Dê-qëthî Bî's militia enacted an operation to transport a specific war machine to a particular mine unharmed. The operation was complicated by extremely dangerous terrain, including unfamiliar and poisonous plants which many ate while foraging. The conflict ended with needing to break through the enemy's lines, which ended in defeat for Dê-qëthî Bî's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Dê-qëthî Bî's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
